Tributes pour in for Lance Reddick
Given the many projects Reddick has appeared in throughout his career, it’s no surprise there has been an outpouring of love for the star.
David Simon, who was the creator, executive producer, head writer and show runner for ‘The Wire’ from 2002 to 2008, said he was gutted to hear the news of Reddick’s passing.
“Consummate professional, devoted collaborator, lovely and gentle man, loyal friend. Could go on, but no, I can’t go on. This is gutting. And way, way, way too soon,” Simon wrote on Twitter.
Kirk Acevedo, who worked with Reddick on ‘Oz’ and ‘Fringe’, said Reddick will be terribly missed.
“I’ve worked with Lance on OZ and then on Fringe,” Acevedo tweeted. “Too many stories and good times with Lance. You’ll be terribly missed. Jesus he was taken way too soon. Rest easy my friend.”
Wendell Pierce, who played Detective Bunk Moreland on ‘The Wire’, said that Reddick’s unexpected passing leaves a “sharp, painful grief.”
“A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An [sic] sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP,” he wrote.
