U2 to release ‘V-U2′ immersive movie of the Sphere Las Vegas shows
The band played 25 dates at the $2.3 billion sci-fi venue, which were captured by the Sphere Studios high-definition Big Sky cameras.
U2 fans who saw perform during their 25-date residency at Sphere Las Vegas last year will be able to relive the experience in breathtaking high-definition while those who missed out will get a second chance to see it in a new concert film directed by the band’s guitarist The Edge and Morleigh Steinberg.
V-U2 captures the band on stage during their historic run of shows at the $2.3 billion, 18,000-seater Sphere Las Vegas which started on 29 September 2023 and ended in March this year. U2 ran through songs from their 1991 release Achtung Baby in front of a spectacular 580,000 square-foot wraparound LED backdrop - the largest LED screen on Earth.
Next generation technology
Shot by the Sphere Studios next-generation, HD Big Sky cameras, V-U2 “makes audiences feel like they’re at the live show in an immersive experience”, recording the band at extraordinary scale, sharpness and clarity. It also utilizes Sphere Immersive Sound, powered by HOLOPLOT, which provides crystal-clear sound to every seat in the house; and touch-sensitive, haptic seats, which use vibrations so guests can “feel the experience” of actually being right there in front on Bono, Adam and the Edge (drummer Larry Mullen Jr is recovering from neck surgery and Krezip drummer Bram van den Berg has stood in for him).

A first for the Edge
Guitarist the Edge explained that it will also be a brand new experience for him and his bandmates: “The goal was to give the immersive movie goers as close to the live U2:UV concert experience as possible, and then some.... I’ve never seen a U2 show. I’m so relieved I caught a great one”.
The trailer for V-U2 includes a clip of The Edge watching the band from the crowd, then telling viewers, “After all these years, I get to see a U2 show!”
V-U2 will be screened exclusively at the Sphere Las Vegas from Thursday 5 September at 8 p.m. PT and screenings will run until 31 October. Pre-sale tickets will be available to U2 Fan Club members only from today, 22 August at 10 a.m. PT until Friday 23 August 9 a.m. PT.
Tickets will go on general sale on at 10 a.m. PT on Friday 23 August via Ticketmaster or in-person onsite at the Sphere concierge, which is open one hour prior to show time. Sphere uses mobile tickets only. Prices start at $100.
