After speculation that ‘Fast X’ would be the last film in the franchise, Vin Diesel has confirmed that though they are looking at the definitive closure of the adventures of Dom Toretto and company, there are expected to be a number of spinoffs. Plus, ‘Fast X’ was just the first part of a two-part ending.

For those who have thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga, thinking about the end is hard — or, as Vin Diesel says, “bittersweet”.

More ‘Fast’ movies to come?

But that’s not to say that after the final ‘Fast’ episodes is the end of the line for these beloved characters.

Diesel, the franchise’s star, has hinted at the content of the potential spinoffs.

“Look at all the characters and big stars that are in the movie. There was no way I could pull that off unless I took each one out for five seconds. Those characters are interesting, and we need to see more of them.”

The actor and producer has confirmed that the development of these spinoffs dates back to 2017, and includes a storyline on the multiple female characters in the franchise for the past 22 years.

“I started developing the female spinoff in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs,” Diesel told Variety.

The actor revealed May 12 ‘Fast X’ is actually the first part of a two-part — or maybe even three — ending, and “it’s bittersweet to think of a finale.”

“Look how many characters and great talent there is in the movie,” Diesel explained. “There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.”

Spinoff possibilities

The possibilities include stories based around Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey, Charlize Theron’s Cipher, Brie Larson’s Tess, and Daniela Melchior’s Isabel.

Meanwhile, Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty in the ‘Fast’ franchise, recently revealed that there are endless possibilities for the future of the franchise. The actress explained that the series was looking to go in a number of many directions, and are in the process of planting seeds and brainstorming with the team.
