Were Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn ever engaged or married?
Fans speculated over the status of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s relationship prior to news of their breakup.
Taylor Swift fans have never been shy when it comes to analyzing and combing over details when it comes to the singer’s music, or her relationship.
Following news that her and boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s relationship is now over, questions over whether the couple were ever engaged or married should also come to an end.
Were Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn ever engaged or married?
The couple were together for six years, and there were questions over whether they were engaged at one point.
This came after the singer was seen wearing a large ring a scene in her 2020 Netflix documentary, ‘Miss Americana’.
It came during a scene in which Swift talked about her decision to no longer keep quiet when it comes to politics.
“I want to be on the right side of history,” says Swift, who is sitting cross-legged on a couch, while raising her hand to reveal what appeared to be a diamond.
Director Lana Wilson even dodged the question when asked about it at the film’s premiere, stating: “Whoa. I’m going to have to revisit that scene.”
While the speculation was never confirmed, fans later began to speculate on whether Swift and Alwyn secretly got married.
This happened after Swift announced her ninth studio album, ‘Evermore’. In a sneak peek for the video ‘Willow’, Swift was seen wearing a bridal-looking Zimmermann’s Charm Star Lace & Ruffle Trim Silk Dress.
This set off fans, who began to speculate that Swift and Alwyn might be married.
However, it looks like it was only speculation in the end, with an insider telling Page Six the pair never tied the knot or had a ceremony, calling it “fully not true.”
The source also added that Swift is single, but denied suggestions she is already seeing someone else.
Swift and Alwyn’s relationship
Dating rumors began in May 2017, though fans believe the couple were dating for months before then.
They went Instagram official after posting matching cactus phots on Instagram, and made some appearances at red carpet events while largely keeping out of the public eye.
Reports on Monday stated that a difference in personalities ultimately caused the relationship to come to an end.
“Joe has struggled with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public. The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They’ve grown apart,” a source told People.
