Hollywood actor Tom Sizemore passed away on Friday, March 3 following a recent stay in hospital.
What caused Tom Sizemore’s death?
The actor was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a brain aneurysm on February 19.
A statement from Sizemore’s manage Charles Lago on Tuesday revealed that the actor’s family was “deciding end of life matters” following an update from doctors.
“Today, doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended end of life decision. The family is now deciding end of life matters and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday,” the statement said.
“Since that day, Tom has remained in critical condition, in a coma and in intensive care.”
Sizemore collapsed early morning on February 19 at his home in Los Angeles. The brain aneurysm was the result of a stroke as per Lago’s statement.
On Friday, March 3, Sizemore’s manager, Charles Lago confirmed that he passed away in his sleep with his brother Paul and twin boys Jayden and Jagger by his side.
Sizemore’s career
Born in Detroit, Sizemore had a small role in the 1989 Oliver Stone film ‘Born on the Fourth of July’. He got his break in television at around the same time, appearing in the ABC series ‘China Beach’.
He appeared in a number of hit movies during the 1990s and 2000s, including ‘Black Hawk Down’, ‘Heat’, ‘Natural Born Killers’ and ‘Pearl Harbor’.
Sizemore is perhaps best known for his role in the World War II movie ‘Saving Private Ryan’, in which he played Sgt. Mike Horvath.
He also starred in other titles like ‘The Relic’, ‘True Romance’ and ‘Bringing Out the Dead’. The latter film was directed by Martin Scorsese and co-starred Nicolas Cage.
Sizemore picked up a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television in 2000 for his role in ‘Witness Protection’.
He also appeared in ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Cobra Kai’.

Following his fame, Sizemore developed a drug habit to heroin and crystal meth, which he wrote about in his autobiography.
In 1997, he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife, actress and tennis player Maeve Quinlan. They later divorced two years later.
In 2003, he was sentenced to six months in prison for beating up his girlfriend Heidi Fleiss. He was also ordered to complete rehab and anger management.
