It’s hard to believe that Lenny Kravitz will be turning 60 in just a couple of months’ time. The Manhattan-born singer/songwriter has aged well and will be embarking on a 20-date tour of Europe this summer which will take him to Italy, Germany. Poland, the Netherlands, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Kravitz will be promoting his new album, Electric Blue Light, which will be released in various formats (vinyl double album, picture disc, CD, deluxe edition) by Roxie Records on 24 May - two days before he celebrates his 60th birthday. That’s not the only reason why 2024 will be a landmark year for the musician. On 12 March, he was joined by his daughter Zoë and actor Denzel Washington as he became the 2,774th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Star on Hollywood Boulevard

“With this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Lenny Kravitz’s contributions to the entertainment industry will be forever immortalized and celebrated, “Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ana Martinez said. “It serves as a testament to his exceptional talent, dedication, and significant impact on popular culture. Lenny continues to inspire aspiring musicians and entertainers, and this recognition from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is truly well-deserved”.

It’s the latest recognition for a lifetime of achievements. Kravitz has been nominated for nine Grammy awards, winning four (Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1999, 2000 and 2001 for Fly Away, American Woman and Again; and Best Rock Song for Again in 2001). He appeared with H.E.R. performing an octane-fuelled version of his 1994 hit Are You Gonna Go My Way at the 64th Grammys.

Since his 1989 debut Let Love Rule, Kravitz has released 11 studio albums - all of them going gold and his biggest selling albums: Are You Gonna Go My Way and 5 went double platinum, selling 4 and 4.5 million copies respectively worldwide. His Greatest Hits comp, his most successful release, has sold twice as many with 10 million units sold.

Kravitz gives Madonna a hit single

He has enjoyed several sell-out world tours, memorably hitting the road with Aerosmith in 2005 - his most active year performing with 79 shows around the globe. Apart from making his own music, Lenny has written songs for other artists including Justify My Love which gave Madonna her ninth No.1 and Be My Baby for then-girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis.

He has also branched out into acting, appearing in a number of films and television series with cameo roles in Zoolander (2001), The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) and supporting roles in Precious (2009), The Hunger Games (2012) and The Butler (2013).

Kravitz has other sources of income alongside his music and acting activities, he has also dabbled in fashion and is known for his extravagant, designer stage outfits. He regularly attends fashion shows both in the US and Europe and has been spotted front row at Paris Fashion Week on a number of occasions.

With all of that Kravitz has amassed a personal fortune which stands at around $90 million in 2024, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Most of that is through physical sales and streaming of his music - he reportedly earns $16 million from Spotify, $15 million from Apple Music, $3 million from Amazon. So he may not be a billionaire just yet but has done well financially over the years.
