This turned out to be a banner year for movies, with two of them surpassing the billion-dollar barrier. The next six on the list of highest-grossing films exceeded $500 million.
Barbie, the highest-grossing film of 2023
In July, the long-awaited film Barbie was released- the pink-colored live-action movie of the iconic Mattel doll. The film began to raise expectations after the release of the first trailer, the cast, as well as the marketing campaign- and it absolutely delivered.
The film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has a rating of 80 on the review website Metacritic with 67 reviews by critics, while it registered a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
