Dozens of television shows, documentaries, and movies have been nominated for Golden Globes, but only a few works managed to secure more than one possible win. Here will take a look at these Hollywood Foreign Press favorites.

Film

The Golden Globes are often great indicators of which films will do at the Academy Awards, which will take place a few weeks later. This year’s top contenders in the film category include Oppenheimer, Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Poor Things.

Oppenheimer - 8

Christopher Nolan’s epic biographical thriller about Robert J. Oppenheimer and his part in the USA’s creation of the atomic bomb towards the end of the Second World War captivated audiences the world over upon its release. Cillian Murphy brought the scientist to life in a film that was both poignant and shocking all at the same time. Just behind the next film on the list, Oppenheimer has 8 nominations.

Oppenheimer nominations:

  • Best Motion Picture - Drama
  • Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
  • Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
  • Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
  • Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
  • Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
  • Best Director - Motion Picture

Barbie: The Movie - 9

On the other end of the happiness scale we have Barbie. If Oppenheimer’s dark, smoky corridors didn’t suit your style then perhaps Barbie’s explosion of pink and smiles and high-heel-less tip-toe walking was more your cup of tea. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, who would be one of only four women ever to have seen their work win in this category, was the other side of the coin to the Barbenheimer phenomenon which had film fans binging both in one sitting. Barbie sits at the top of the nominations list for a film, with 9.

'Barbie: The Movie' nominations:

  • Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
  • Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
