Which characters will return for Ted Lasso season 4? When will it launch?
AFC Richmond and its charismatic characters are returning to a small screen near you soon, with information already known.
Ted Lasso has been one of the most beloved and acclaimed series of recent years, a show that started as a parody sketch for NBC Sports and, due to its overwhelming success, evolved into a full-fledged television series with a loyal fanbase. After three seasons, it seemed that Jason Sudeikis’s creation had reached its conclusion, aligning with the vision of its creator.
However, rumours about the continuation of ‘Ted Lasso’ persisted and we’ve now reportedly had news of the green light getting very close, much to the delight of fans.
Ted Lasso to return
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Television has renewed the contracts of three key cast members: Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins). This agreement was reached with the support of Equity, the British actors’ union, and the next step is to contact other cast members who are part of SAG-AFTRA, including Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard). Clearly the feeling is that Sudeikis must be up for his crucial role given where progress has reached.
The same report does, however, say that Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart) – also in Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface – has not been picked up, likely due to a conflict with these series.
The long-awaited return of Ted Lasso
Deadline highlights that “If all elements come together, we hear production on a fourth season is eyeing an early 2025 start.” Social media reacted to the news as you’d expect.
What is Ted Lasso about?
For those yet to taste this uplifting and multi award-winning series, the synopsis reads as follows.
“Ted Lasso is a naive American football coach who decides to try his luck at an English soccer club, AFC Richmond, but his inexperience initially arouses suspicion and disdain among players and fans. The team’s owner, Rebecca Welton, hires Lasso in the hope that he will fail and thus get revenge on the team’s previous owner, her unfaithful ex-husband.
“Winner of 13 Emmy Awards, including back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series wins (2021, 2022), Jason Sudeikis plays the charming coach. What he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism...and biscuits.
