Who is Emily Armstrong, the new vocalist of Linkin Park? Career, family, net worth...

The 38-year-old rock singer joins the iconic band, stepping in to replace the late Chester Bennington.

Linkin Park will perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Thursday, December 12, starring alongside the likes of Coldplay and SEVENTEEN. Many of the biggest names in contemporary music are among the nominees but the performance of Linkin Park will be a major talking point.

The iconic rock band recently added vocalist Emily Armstrong to the line-up and released its eighth album, 'From Zero', in November 2024. Armstrong joined Linkin Park in September 2024, following the tragic death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017.

Armstrong began playing in bands as a teenager, often with guitarist Siouxsie Medley. The duo first performed publicly as ‘Dead Sara’ in 2005, at The Mint nightclub in Los Angeles. Dead Sara have now released six studio albums, most recently ‘Ain’t It Tragic' in 2021.

Now 38, Armstrong has previous spoken about her upbringing in the Church of Scientology. Her parents were Scientologists and a young Armstrong found music as a motivating factor throughout her childhood and teenage years.

After a 20-year career as a musician, FandomWire reports that Emily Armstrong has amassed a net worth of around $1.5 million.

When did Emily Armstrong join Linkin Park?

Linkin Park had been on hiatus after the sad passing of Bennington but in 2018 guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda revealed that he hoped that Linkin Park would return in the future, saying: ”I have every intention on continuing with LP, and the guys feel the same. We have a lot of rebuilding to do, and questions to answer, so it’ll take time."

They met with Armstrong in 2019 and soon began working on projects with her and other musicians, including drummer Colin Brittain. In September 2024 Linkin Park announced, via a live stream, that Armstrong and Brittain would be joining the band. Soon after the reformed Linkin Park embarked on a nine-date arena tour across four continents, culminating in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 16.
