Tommy Paul’s girlfriend has gone viral over her apparent attempts to seize the spotlight as the tennis star celebrated his victory at Queen’s Club this weekend.

“This is hard to watch”

Influencer Paige Lorenze, who was in the stands at Queen’s to see Paul beat Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the men’s singles final in London, raised eyebrows by breaking with tradition and joining him on court as he posed with the winners’ trophy. Standing by Paul’s side as he clutched the silverware, Lorenze could be seen grabbing her awkward-looking boyfriend by the neck and seemingly pulling him towards her as they posed together for the cameras. She also held the trophy with him.

She’s dragging that trophy over like she won it,” one X user commented on the social-media platform. “I’m sorry but this is hard to watch,” a fellow user said, while another added: “This is all so cringe.”

Lorenze later took to social media to share a photo of herself and Paul, each with one hand on the Queen’s Club trophy. “Love celebrating your hard-earned victory alongside you Tommy Paul,” she wrote. “I am so proud of you, and grateful to be by your side through every win and challenge. Here’s to many more! I love you!”

Paul beat Musetti in straight sets in yesterday’s final, triumphing 6-1, 7-6 for his first career win at the tournament, which is among the grass-court events that lead up to the Wimbledon Championships. Paul is seeded 12th this year in SW19, where his best performance so far is a fourth-round finish in 2022. The third grand slam of the tennis season, Wimbledon is scheduled to get underway on 1 July.

Who is Paige Lorenze?

A social-media influencer with around 630,000 followers on Instagram, Lorenze is a former competitive ski racer who grew up in Vermont, before moving to New York to earn a degree in design. With nearly 290,000 followers on TikTok and 230,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, Lorenze says the online content she creates is focused on “cooking, lifestyle, beauty & sports”.

In 2021, the 25-year-old founded the lifestyle brand Dairy Boy, which sells clothes, fashion accessories and homeware. According to the company’s website, “Dairy Boy is a brand with shoppable, tangible pieces that reflect Paige’s beloved lifestyle from her staple denim, to cottage core bedsheets, nostalgic candles and more.”

How long have Lorenze and Paul been together?

Lorenze and Paul went public with their relationship in autumn 2022. At the Australian Open the following year, she was seen ecstatically embracing her boyfriend after he reached the tournament’s semi-finals for the first time in his career. In the wake of his quarter-final win over fellow American Ben Shelton, Paul also gave Lorenze a public shout-out in an on-court interview, telling crowd members at Melbourne Park: “It’s my girlfriend Paige Lorenze’s birthday tomorrow, so if you guys see her, make sure you wish her a happy birthday.”

Lorenze’s dating history

Lorenze’s previous boyfriends include the country singer Morgan Wallen and the actor Armie Hammer. In an interview with Vanity Fair three years ago, she said she had ended her four-month relationship with Hammer in late 2020 after his behaviour towards her made her feel “unsafe”.

He started making rules for me of things I could and couldn’t do, who I could have over, who I couldn’t,” she claimed. “He told me that I couldn’t have anyone else in my bed. And then I just started to feel really unsafe and really sick to my stomach about things.” Lorenze is one of a number of women who have made allegations of misconduct against Hammer, who starred in films such as The Social Network and Call Me By Your Name.

In a 2023 interview with Air Mail, Hammer acknowledged that he had been emotionally abusive towards former partners, but denied any criminal wrongdoing.
