With very little to go on, internet detectives have turned to the source of the video: Tim&DeeTV, a content creation duo based in Nashville that films street interviews with young people enjoying a night out in the Tennessee town.
The interview in which this trend erupted, initially shared on 11 June, included the question, “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?” With a thick Southern accent, she confidently replied, “Oh, you’ve got to give it that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang, you get me?” Standing beside her and grabbing attention in the video, her friend burst into laughter, cementing the moment’s viral appeal. It appears that the friend was also surprised by the confidence in her answer.
While the interest and memes spread, some online sleuths were keen to discover the identity of this woman who had inadvertently shot to fame. The online investigators figured out that her first name is Hailey based on the account name tagged in the video by Tim and Dee. But no last name has been confirmed. Quickly after the video began to spread, the account tagged by the creators was deactivated. Deactivating has helped to keep her identity private. The young woman in the video did not ask to go viral and experience the content firestorm she now finds herself in. Hailey, or whatever her real name is, is an ordinary person whose reputation is being debated online, and she has very little recourse to protect herself.
That doesn’t mean she hasn’t or shouldn’t capitalize on her viral moment, either.
