Who will star in Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’?

Marvel Studios recently revealed the cast for the upcoming show.

‘Secret Invasion’ is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project that will feature Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., as the main protagonist.

The series follows Fury on a mission to stop the shapeshifting Skrulls from obtaining positions of power around the world.

It will be the first series of the MCU’s phase five and will consist of six episodes.

Returning actors

This will be Jackson’s twelfth MCU appearance. The actor has previously played Nick Fury in ‘Iron Man’, ‘Iron Man 2′, ‘Thor’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and Spider-Man: Far From Home’.

Don Cheadle will play James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine, but as the President’s right-hand man. This will mark Cheadle’s ninth MCU appearance and he’s also slated to appear in ‘Armor Wars’.

Cobie Smulders is set to return as Maria Hill, Fury’s right-hand woman. This is her eighth MCU appearance.

Everett K. Ross is a CIA agent played by Martin Freeman. This is his fourth MCU appearance.

Ben Mendelsohn played Talos, a Skrull general, in ‘Captain Marvel’. He will assist Nick Fury in uncovering the evil Skrulls.

New actors

‘Games of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke joins the MCU as G’iah, Talos’ daughter. G’iah previously appeared in ‘Captain Marvel’ as a child, but will now be portrayed as an adult Skrull.

Clarke refers to her character as a “refugee kid” who gives off a “punk feeling”.

‘The Crown’ actress Olivia Coleman is confirmed to be an antagonist in the series. Her character is an MI6 agent tasked with protecting her homeland.

Jackson described Coleman’s character as being “coldblooded” and “somebody you’ve never seen her play before”.

‘Secret Invasion’ is slated to release on July 21, 2023 on Disney Plus.
