Earlier on Wednesday, Apple users began to report major outages accessing the technological giant’s applications, including Apple TV, Apple Music, and the App Store. According to Down Detector, a website that allows users to report on outages, the issue looks to be resolving itself, with the number of reports starting to dip. The heatmap published by the platform also showed that users across the United States were running into issues, meaning that the outage was not geographically focused. And users in the United States are not alone, reports of issues are flowing in from all over the world.

The majority of users reporting issues with the applications are reporting that they are related to a server connection error. However, when looking at those struggling to access their Apple TV accounts, nearly a third of reports say the problem is related to the login process.

The cause of the outage

Exactly what is causing the issues remains unknown. Apple has not released a public statement since the outages began being reported late afternoon. As the issues are resolved, more information about what caused the outage is likely to be released. However, Apple is not a company that likes to speak openly, particularly in such cases where their products or systems have failed, so one should not expect a vast amount of detail.
