Hailey Bieber reaches out to Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez is hoping her latest Instagram Story will bring down the temperature when it comes to her reported feud with Hailey Bieber.

Gomez famously dated Justin Bieber on and off for close to eight years before they called it quits for good in 2018.

A few months after the breakup, Bieber proposed to Hailey, and they married later that year. Since then, the two fanbases have often been pitted against one another.

Gomez asks people to be kinder to Hailey

On Friday, Gomez posted a note to her Instagram Story asking for fans to be kinder to Hailey.

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” read Gomez’s note.

“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

The request from Gomez comes a month after Bieber and friend Kylie Jenner were accused of throwing shade at Gomez through a series of social media posts.

Gomez fans took aim at Hailey after that, posting hateful messages on her Instagram account, including one in which she wished Justin Bieber a happy birthday.

Things got so heated on social media that Gomez announced she was taking a hiatus from social media.

“I’m very happy, I’m so blessed. I have the best friends and the best fans in the whole world and I just couldn’t be happier,” Gomez.

“I’m good, I love the way I am, I don’t care. And yeah, I’m gonna be taking a second from social media ‘cause this is a little silly and I’m 30. I’m too old for this.”

Gomez and Hailey say they are on good terms

Gomez has since returned to social media, and her post asking fans to be kinder to Hailey is the latest effort the two women have made to play down talk of a rivalry.

Hailey appeared on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast back in September 2022 and addressed the criticism that has been directed at her after marrying Justin Bieber.

“I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything, I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please,” said Hailey, while adding that her and Gomez had made amends.

A few weeks later, the two even shared a sweet embrace at the second Annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.
