Jamie Lee Curtis is keeping it real, and declared she is skipping the 2023 Oscars nominee dinner on March 9 because it is past her bedtime.

This is the actress’ first Academy Award nomination, but she is exchanging a night of celebratory shoulder-rubbing with other nominees for a good night’s sleep.

Curtis is nominated for the best actress in a supporting role award for her role as IRS agent Deirdre Beaubeirdre in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. The Oscars will be held Sunday, March 12.

Dinner past bedtime

Appearing in a red carpet interview with the Hollywood Reporter at the Film Independent Spirit Awards Saturday night, Jamie Lee Curtis said that 7:30 is way too late to go to a dinner, because the meal won’t come until much later — and she doesn’t want to stay up so late.

In a clip of the conversation shared by the publication on TikTok, Curtis said the event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., would end too late for her because “mommy goes to bed early.” She noted that her publicist, Heidi Schaeffer, would be “mad” that she was sharing why she wouldn’t be in attendance.

“I’m going to tell you a secret right now, Curtis said. There is an Academy Award nominees private dinner on Thursday night that starts at 7:30, and I have declined.”

People will surely wonder why

The actress acknowledges that people will be wondering why she skipped the special dinner, so she preemptively answered the question in the video.

“Now you might say, ‘Jamie, you’re nominated for an Academy Award. You’re gonna be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award,’ and I have declined,” the actress mused rhetorically.

“Because Mommy goes to bed early,” Curtis joked. “And I just — ‘Cause 7:30, it’s going to be nine before we get food, and you know what? There’s nothing good happening with me after nine o’clock.”

“Nothing. Zero!”

“#jamieleecurtis explains why she’s skipping the #oscars nominees dinner,” the Hollywood Reporter wrote in the caption.
