Why Taylor Swift has no time for the Chiefs
She makes headlines no matter what she does, but sometimes it’s about getting back to the day job.
Whether she’s making political statements, causing police escort controversy abroad, or screaming her head off at a NFL game, Taylor Swift seems to always be in the news. Her fans – and we in the media are clearly partly responsible – just can’t get enough. But away from all the other noise, we generally always return to the melodies that she is capable of delivering on stage, the reason the 34-year-old shot to fame in the first place.
Followers of either Swift or the Kansas City Chiefs over the past year or so will have become rather accustomed to the singer-songwriter popping up in the box at Arrowhead Stadium, cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce. She was seen by some as the team’s lucky charm as they navigated their way through last season’s playoffs before clinching a second consecutive Super Bowl. The cameras were on hand to capture her every grimace, cheer and kiss. While she’s not been at every game this season, she’s keeping a close eye on the team.
What Eras Tour gigs has Taylor Swift still got in 2024?
But there’s also a big tour very much on her agenda and as we reach Week 7 of the NFL season, the chances of her getting to watch Travis and co. in person have become nigh on impossible. The Eras Tour has been wowing fans – and parents of them – across the world for many months and it continues on its US and Canada leg. Gigs on October 18, 19 and 20 in Miami won’t allow for her getting to California to see the Chiefs and 49ers clash on Sunday. And then the following week she’ll be strutting her stuff in New Orleans so the Raiders visit to Arrowhead will have to proceed without her. We’ll survive... but will the Chiefs?
What’s the Chiefs’ 2024 remaining schedule?
So, with such a workload on tour, is Taylor likely to get to many more Chiefs games before the regular season is out? The schedule for both her and Kelce would suggest, yes.
With Swift finishing her show duties early in December, our bet is that we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of her at Chiefs games come the latter part of the regular season – including Christmas Day’s clash with the Steelers – and the, almost guaranteed, post season. Can they go all the way to a threepeat? No don’t she’ll say, “Don’t blame me” if they falter.
