Amidst the excitement of the 2024 Met Gala, a brewing storm of controversy threatens to overshadow the event: the ongoing feud between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar. As the two artists continue to exchange barbs, the question on everyone’s mind is whether they will both attend the Met Gala, and if so, what kind of drama they might bring with them.

However it’s unclear whether they will both attend the event as there has been no announcement.

The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar began recently, with both artists trading diss tracks and public jabs. The spat originated in March of this year following the release of the track ‘Like That’ by Lamar. As each dis track has been released the claims have gotten more serious, with Lamar alluding to Drake being an alleged groomer.

The Met Gala is known for its exclusivity and high-profile guest list, with tickets often fetching tens of thousands of dollars. This year’s event is particularly significant, with a theme inspired by JG Ballard’s dystopian tale of the same name, “The Garden of Time”. The theme is meant to explore rebirth and renewal.

Have they attended the Met gala before?

In the past, both Drake and Kendrick Lamar have attended the Met Gala, often making headlines for their stylish outfits and high-profile appearances. Drake has been a regular at the event, with his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, joining him on the red carpet in 2015. Kendrick Lamar, on the other hand, has attended the Met Gala only once, in 2014, when he walked the red carpet alongside his then-girlfriend, Whitney Alford.

The event is a major fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, with proceeds going towards supporting the museum’s exhibitions and programs.
