Woody Harrelson adds fuel to Matthew McConaughey’s comments that they might be brothers
McConaughey recently revealed his discovery of evidence that there may be a relation.
Woody Harrelson has supported Matthew McConaughey’s claims that the two Hollywood actors could possibly be related.
McConaughey told Kelly Ripa last week that the men might be biological brothers — and he had a paper trail and testimony from his mother to back it up.
Harrelson, who is making the promotional rounds for his new HBO series ‘White House Plumbers’, is also in the process of making a television show with his would-be brother McConaughey, called ‘Brother From Another Mother’. The ‘How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ actor said the series was loosely biographical.
Harrelson on ‘Colbert’
Harrelson appeared on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ on Tuesday, where he was predictably asked about his friend and potential brother’s comments.
“Well, I’ll just say there is some veracity to that thought because we talked to Ma’ Mac, Matthew’s legitimate mother, and she let us know one time,” Harrelson said.
“I mean, this is crazy.”
The stories line up
Harrelson recounted a similar story to his counterpart, who described a certain dinner in Greece with Mrs. McConaughey.
“We were in Greece watching the U.S. team win the World Cup and I don’t know, I mentioned something about regrets,” Harrelson recounted. “And I said, ‘You know, it’s odd that my father has no regrets.’”
“And I have known Ma’ Mac a long time,” the actor continued, “and she goes, ‘I knew… your father.’ And it was the ellipses I found a little troubling, or interesting. ‘I knew your father.’”
“[It was] filled with innuendo,” Harrelson added.
The logistics
Harrelson goes on to do the math.
“The year of [McConaughey’s] birth, nine months before, she was on a sabbatical from her relationship with his supposed father, Jim,” Harrelson said.
“We want to go for a [DNA] test, but for him, it’s a much more big deal,” he continued. “I mean he feels like he is losing a father.”
“But I’m like, no, you’re gaining a different father and a brother.”
