Woody Harrelson officially became a member of ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ Five-Timers Club after hosting the show on Saturday night.

The 61-year-old made mention of the achievement during his opening monologue, though he was made to wait before being officially inducted.

“No jacket? Okay,” he said while shrugging. He later held out his arms once more in hopes of receiving the jacket.

“Still no jacket? Okay, well, we got a great show for you tonight,” he said.

Who gave Harrelson his SNL jacket?

Harrelson had to wait until the end of the show for his jacket, when fellow Five-Timers club member Scarlett Johansson provided him with the commemorative jacket.

“I got you, baby!” the actress said as she handed Harrelson the attire piece.

The Five-Timers Club, as it’s come to be called, began back on December 8, 1990. That’s when Tom Hanks, on what was his fifth time hosting the show, said: “The fifth time you do the show is the most special of all because you get one of these: a membership card in the Five-Timers Club.”

The appearance means Harrelson joins other names like Jonah Hill, Will Ferrell, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Rudd as having hosted Saturday Night Live five times.

Harrelson is still far off Alec Baldwin, who has hosted the show a record 17 times. Steve Martin is just behind him at 16, while John Goodman has hosted on 13 occasions.

Buck Henry and Tom Hanks are the only other people who have hit double digits (10) when it comes to hosting the program.

Harrelson’s Saturday Night Live appearance

Harrelson took part in several sketches throughout the show, including one where he played an inmate who was eagerly awaiting his return home to his wife.

He also took part in a spoof of ‘The Whale’, in which a filmmaker tells actors that the studio has cancelled their project after they made sacrifices for their roles, including weight gain.

Harrelson’s opening monologue has also made headlines. He sparked a COVID debate on social media after discussing the “craziest script” he’s ever read, which included the “the biggest drug cartels in the world get together and buy up all the media and all the politicians and force all the people in the world to stay locked in their homes.
