$1,400 checks from the IRS in August 2024: Who is eligible to receive the payments?
In order to provide relief to those most in need, the IRS will offer checks of up to $1,400: who will receive them and how can I apply?
To provide relief to those in need, the United States offers various financial assistance programs at both the state and federal levels. Among these is a payment of up to $1,400 from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
According to multiple reports, the IRS will issue these checks to low-income taxpayers to help cover essential living expenses. But who qualifies for this relief? We explain below.
Who is eligible for the $1,400 IRS checks?
Because this relief is aimed at low-income residents, taxpayers must meet specific income thresholds to qualify.
The annual income limit for individuals is $75,000, with those earning over $80,000 potentially receiving a reduced payment. For heads of households, the annual limit is $112,500, and for couples filing jointly, it is $150,000 per year.
The IRS will consider tax returns for the 2020 and 2021 tax years to determine the payment allocation. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the government agency will issue the payment automatically. No application is required.
