$1,900 Social Security payments on June 3: Who will receive them?

Disbursement of this month’s Social Security payments begins this Monday. Find out which beneficiaries will receive their benefits on June 3.

Each month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends benefits to retirees, survivors, as well as Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments which are staggered throughout each month.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are typically scheduled to be sent out on the first day of each month. However, in June, the SSA did not send money on that date, as it fell on a Saturday, so instead the payment was advanced to May 31.

Thanks to the increased cost of living adjustment (COLA), average payments for retired workers rose to just over $1,900. However, the exact amount varies from one beneficiary to another.

As established by the SSA payment schedule, money is sent on the third day of each month for beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997 and those who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments.

The rest of the Social Security checks (retirees, survivors and SSDI) are sent on Wednesdays, depending on the recipients' day of birth. Therefore, this is the complete payment schedule for June:

  • Monday, June 3: Beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997 and receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments
  • Wednesday, June 12: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th
  • Tuesday, June 18: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th (sent on Tuesday because June 19 is the Juneteenth Day holiday)
  • Wednesday, June 26: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st

Payments are sent via direct deposit to beneficiaries who have provided a bank account to the SSA, which is now mandatory, or via postal mail, which take longer to arrive.
