Ohio projected to guarantee abortion rights
Ohio voters on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment guaranteeing abortion rights, Edison Research projected, extending an unbeaten streak for abortion access advocates since the Supreme Court's decision last year to eliminate a nationwide right to end pregnancies.
The result in Ohio, a conservative-leaning state that supported Republican Donald Trump by 8 percentage points in the 2020 presidential election, is yet another sign that abortion remains a potent issue for Democrats ahead of the 2024 campaign for the White House.

The ballot measure, State Issue 1, requires a simple majority to become law. Polls will close at 7:30 p.m., and soon after, state election officials will begin releasing results.

In an off-year election, turnout is typically lower, but in many states, essential races for governor, positions on the state’s supreme court, and referendums on abortion could motivate voters to cast a ballot.

Additionally, the legalization of recreational marijuana is also on the ballot. Kentucky and Mississippi are holding gubernatorial elections, with the incumbents in both states looking to win a second term.
Texan voters will be presented with fourteen constitutional amendments to vote on, among which are Proposition 3 - which seeks to prevent the state from introducing a wealth tax instead of an income tax - and Proposition 9 - which seeks to allow the state to provide a cost-of-living adjustment to retired teachers in the state.
Democrat Andy Bashear in Kentucky faces off against the state’s former Attorney General, Daniel Cameron. While the last two senate races in Kentucky have been won by the Republican incumbents, the current polling shows the two candidates are in a dead heat.
