$500 compensation from Walmart: Can it be claimed without the purchase receipt?
Have you recently bought groceries at Walmart? You may be eligible to claim up to $500. Here’s what to do if you don’t have the receipt for your purchase.
In some cases where several people are affected by the actions of a company or its products and services do not meet those established by a brand, a class action lawsuit can be filed.
This is a legal action filed by a group of people who have suffered common damages. This is what happened with Walmart, which has reached an agreement to pay $45 million after a collective lawsuit was filed against the company.
The suit against Walmart claimed that shoppers were overcharged and “paid more than the lowest advertised in-store price” for certain products. The retailer did not admit the mistake, but reached an agreement nonetheless. Find out who qualifies to receive a portion of the million-dollar compensation and what is the deadline to do so.
Who qualifies to receive $500 from Walmart?
To qualify, you must have purchased certain products in a Walmart store between October 19, 2018 and January 19, 2024. According to the agreement, people who purchased specific products sold by weight during the period mentioned could be eligible.
Qualifying foods include specific meat, poultry, pork and seafood products that are priced based on weight, as well as some produce (oranges, grapefruits and tangerines) that are sold in bulk in bags. You can see the full list of applicable items here.

How to claim the money from Walmart? How much money will be sent?
Buyers eligible to participate in the deal received emails containing a notice ID and confirmation code: that information can be used to quickly file a claim online. Those who did not receive an email can also file a claim here.
The settlement amount is 2% of the purchases made, up to a total of $500. Payments will be distributed through online methods such as Venmo or Zelle, but there is also a backup option to receive a check.

Can the Walmart compensation be claimed without the purchase receipt?
Claiming your part of the settlement will be more complicated if your purchases are not linked to a Walmart email on file. Shoppers who kept their receipts or have other proof of purchase can upload them with their claim.
If you do not have receipts or purchase records, you can submit a detailed claim form and potentially receive between $10 and $25, depending on the number of qualifying products you prove you purchased.
For all claims, the submission deadline is June 5. It is not yet clear when people will be paid. The final approval hearing is scheduled for June 12, but there may be appeals after that.
