A cheese ball jar trapped a dog—here’s how a drone came to the rescue
Volunteers sprang into action when a stray dog with its head stuck in a plastic jar was spotted. After two days of searching Dallas Cheddar was saved.
A heart-warming story came out of Pennsylvania this week when Canine Rescue of Central PA (CRCPA) announced that they had located and captured a stray dog a volunteer had spotted. Time was of the essence as the wandering mutt had its head stuck in a plastic jar.
The pup was given the name ‘Dallas Cheddar’ in honor of the drone operator that located the stray and the jar on its head which had contained cheese balls. Dallas Cheddar is now in a foster home and receiving needed medical attention.
The rescue of ‘Dallas Cheddar’
CRCPA members with the help of Find Toby started searching for Dallas on Monday morning. For two days volunteers searched the York County countryside for the dog.
The situation completely changed when two drone pilots, Bill Fisher from Drone Deployment Services, LLC and Dallas Fuhrman from Nighthawk Drone Services, stepped in to help.
Dallas Cheddar, named in honor of Fuhrman, was finally located in a cornfield in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at 3 am. Rescuers were able to safely capture the stray and immediately took her to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center, where Dr. Shonts and her team began treatment CRCPA shared.
The haggard pup that was “clearly in distress,” suffering from severe dehydration and was infested with ticks.
“It was truly a team effort, and we could not have been successful without everyone involved!” CRCPA said, thanking everyone for their help that lead to the rescue of Dallas Cheddar.
CRCPA estimates that treatment for Dallas Cheddar will cost $3,500 and are asking the public for donations.
