In one episode, Gerard explains that during a session, a woman doubted his abilities as a professional because of his appearance, suggesting that a tattooed physical therapist could not provide proper care.
His response was clear and respectful, unlike the woman’s. “Our session is over. I’m sorry, but I won’t be seeing you again,” he told her.
The video reached the right audience and has been widely praised for its message and for shedding light on a situation many professionals face every day: aesthetic prejudice. Most viewers were stunned.
“I would have refused to treat her,” some commented. Others, however, did not fully grasp the seriousness of the situation. “When was she disrespectful? She was just being honest and looking for reassurance,” they argued.
Beyond this specific case, Gerard invites a deeper reflection: appearance does not define a person’s character or professional competence. In a workplace that is becoming increasingly open and diverse, clinging to image-based stereotypes represents a significant step backward, limiting empathy, trust, and equal treatment.
