Who is performing at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington D.C.?

The United States will be celebrating from coast to coast the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this year. America 250 events are scheduled to take place across the nation and not just on July 4th.

One of the largest events is taking place in Washington D.C., the Great American State Fair, which will run from June 25 to July 10. While the rides and pavilions won’t be available until tomorrow, President Donald Trump is set to speak this evening at a rally on the fairgrounds on the National Mall.

Who’s performing at the Great American State Fair

The White House originally announced that there would be a concert, publishing an eclectic list of performers who would take part in the “once-in-a-generation celebration.” These included Martina McBride, Flo Rida, Freedom Williams, and Vanilla Ice, among others. However, many of them backed out shortly after the line-up was made public.

Trump rebranded the event as an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally.” This will get underway at 7 pm ET with performances by Lee Greenwood and Christopher Macchio, who have both performed at Trump events in the past, and perhaps C+C Music Factory’s Freedom Williams, who hasn’t publicly backed out yet.

Other events taking place at the Great American State Fair

Attendees can ride for free on a 110-foot Ferris wheel that’s been erected on the grounds and there is also refurbished Smithsonian carousel that has been set up for families to enjoy for free.

Likewise, there is no admission fee to attend the Great American State Fair, but organizers are recommending that those who wish to attend pre-register. Each day of the 16-day event will feature a daily theme. Also, there will be a daily rodeo on the National Mall.

Additionally, organizers say that there will be pavilions along ten blocks of the National Mall representing all of the 50 states as well as all of the U.S. territories. However, at least ten states have said that they will not be sending official personnel, several citing the cost they’ve estimated to be anywhere between $100,000 and $1 million reports NPR. Others have cited concerns about the event taking on a more political partisan nature in recent weeks.

That doesn’t mean their allotted tent will remain empty. For example, the Peoria Riverfront Museum has offered to represent the state of Illinois at their own expense, and two companies will be doing the same for North Carolina.
