A viral receipt from a Cannes restaurant reveals the jaw-dropping amount six diners spent in a single night

It also allows people from very different backgrounds to interact, though sometimes the price of certain restaurants can catch many by surprise. That was the case with a bill that went viral this week: a staggering $116,500 at La Môme, a restaurant in Cannes.

Dining on the beach is rarely the cheapest option, especially in a city like Cannes on the French Riviera. But this case, which exploded online, is on a level few could even imagine. The receipt circulating on social media shows spending that many have called “from another world.”

An expense that seems out of this world

The criticism was immediate. One user wrote: “When we see this, it’s easy to understand why some people are anti-capitalist. These people throw money away as if there’s no tomorrow.”

How many diners were there? Six in total. Of the $116,500 bill, about $21,800 went on food. The rest was mainly alcohol, including a single bottle of champagne costing $19,600, and 250 grams of caviar for $15,200. Even the sparkling and still water came in at around $16 a bottle. This was not a restaurant for ordinary budgets – it was a display of excess that the diners clearly wanted the world to see, posting the receipt online.
