A woman visits her parents’ home and is amazed when she finds a lost trace of her past: “A time capsule”

Remembering old times is good sometimes. Looking back and seeing who you were, what you've become, and all you've accomplished.

Update:

The innocence of a child is something no one should lose as they grow up – their honesty and way of seeing life is a clear lesson for adults. Children often like to play by hiding boxes to open in the future, so they can look back on their favorite toys, among other things.

Makeup, like life, has evolved over the years. Not long ago, the trend was eyeliner stretched to the brow and the most striking eye shadows possible. Now, the typical style is natural makeup that barely shows.

Taylor Bayer recently found a time capsule she had left at her parents’ house nine years ago. Inside were palettes and beauty products she used as a teenager, including Jeffree Star and Urban Decay – two of the most influential brands in the mid-2010s. In her post, she admitted: “YouTube influenced me a lot back then – and my credit card.”

“I was so excited, and it was very nostalgic to find it,” Bayer told Newsweek. “The week before, I had been chatting with a coworker about that specific era of beauty, and I remembered I still had some things at my parents’ house. I texted my mom to tell her I’d stop by that weekend, and we went through my old dressing room. We found other stuff, but among it all was this box of makeup. I was completely shocked.”

Showing off the products she had kept, Bayer said, “2016 was the year of highlighter.” Of the Becca palette by Jaclyn Hill, she called it “the queen.” Champagne Pop, she added, “was everything.” Too Faced’s Sweet Peach and Chocolate Bar eyeshadows, she remembered, “smelled amazing.”

Comments from brands and people

The video posted on her TikTok account, ‘tfan21’, went so viral that even beauty brands commented on it. Her favorite response came from Jaclyn Hill herself, who once collaborated with Morphe.

Users also chimed in. “The Anastasia palettes were my dream,” one follower confessed. Another pleaded: “Bring back 2016 makeup. I don’t want to be a clean girl. I want to be a colorful, glowing girl.” Some admitted they still have their old products: “I literally still have my Too Faced Chocolate and Peach palettes because I refuse to get rid of them.”

Not everyone understood the fuss, pointing out: “A time capsule and the products are like eight years old, lol.” Others balked at the cost: “I can’t imagine spending so much on makeup just for it to sit there, go bad, and not even get used,” one wrote. With kindness and humor, several added: “You were rich.”
