Alberta Clipper: The phenomenon that will cause extreme snowfall this week
The Alberta Clipper is a winter storm system that usually begins in northern Montana, in the Canadian province of Alberta, according to experts at WeatherBug. Due to the push of cold air currents, the storms move quickly towards the southeast, crossing the northern strip of the United States.
Although its duration is short, this phenomenon brings with it strong gusts of wind, very low temperatures and light to moderate snowfall, depending on the region.

States under extreme snowfall alert
According to AccuWeather projections, the upper Midwest and northeastern United States will be affected by this storm system, which will bring snowfall to 16 states in the country next week. The states under alert are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota.
Snowfall from the Alberta Clipper typically produces an accumulation of up to three inches of snow, although some areas are likely to see higher amounts, including New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin, where another storm system is already moving through the area.

“As we get into Wednesday, especially, that’s when the storm will be over Michigan. We’ll see snow anywhere from Michigan, Wisconsin, and then it’ll start to snow even in western New York and western Pennsylvania on Wednesday as well,” meteorologist Alex DaSilva told Newsweek.
