Amanda Marcotte rips apart Donald Trump: “He’s not smart. He’s not anything. He’s just a mean, stupid, mediocre narcissist”
As President Trump’s approval rating plummets, critics, such as journalist Amanda Marcotte, grow louder and more unforgiving.
It’s probably not too controversial to say that US President Donald Trump is not everybody’s cup of tea. The 79-year-old was democratically voted into the White House on two separate occasions, although his approval rating has dropped to 37 percent, which suggests many are regretting their decision in the most recent presidential election.
We have, of course, lost count of the number of individuals Trump has got into a war of words with, and let’s not forget someone actually tried to take the President of the United States’ life a little over a year ago.
The Republican’s latest public foe is journalist Amanda Marcotte, the senior politics writer for Salon, which describes itself as “embracing a wide range of liberal and progressive views.”
Marcotte was a recent guest on The New Republic’s “Daily Blast” podcast, which “brings you a fresh way of thinking about the biggest political stories of the moment”.
Joy Behar mocks “jealous” Trump on “The View”
Alongside host Greg Sargent, Marcotte discussed the fallout from Joy Behar’s takedown of Trump on daytime talk show “The View.” Behar repeatedly accused the president of being jealous of Barack Obama.
“He’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green,” claimed Behar. “And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy. Green is not a good color.”
That provoked an inevitable response from the White House, with spokesperson Taylor Rogers describing Behar as an “irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome” and threatening to pull “The View” off air.
Trump has long been partial to some name calling but has again been on the receiving end from a ruthless Marcotte, deemed “one of the best out there at decoding MAGA’s various cultural hatreds.”
Amanda Marcotte’s brutal analysis on Donald Trump
“He’s a narcissist. He’s obsessed with the idea that he needs to be in people’s heads,” the journalist states. “But the problem is, he sucks. He’s not interesting. He’s not smart. He’s not anything.
“He’s just a mean, stupid, mediocre narcissist,” Marcotte continued. “So the only way he can get what he wants, which is to be in our heads all the time—which unfortunately is true because he’s the president and we can’t ignore him—is to just be extremely awful and annoying. But getting attention from people by smacking them in the face over and over—it gets attention, but it doesn’t get the attention that he wants, which is admiration.”
It’s hard to imagine Trump ever being short of attention, although admiration, as suggested by his ever-worsening approval rating, appears to be rather more difficult for him to come by at present.
