Apple will pay $35 million in compensation to iPhone users: Who qualifies and how to apply?
The deadline to claim compensation from Apple is approaching. Here how to claim the money if you are an iPhone user.
Customers or users can take legal action when an item or service does not meet the terms of the service agreement or what was advertised. If the situation is widespread, a class action lawsuit can be filed for the benefits of others.
In many cases, when it is proven that a company has failed to live up to their part of the bargain, a settlement is reached and users are compensated. Such is the case of Apple, which reached an agreement to pay $35 million dollars to be shared among certain iPhone owners and who meet a few specifications.
These people are eligible to receive money from Apple
Apple reached a $35 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging that its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus smartphone models had defective audio chips, causing audio problems for users, according to Top Class Actions.
The settlement benefits consumers who own or owned an Apple iPhone 7 or 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023. To be eligible, those individuals were required to report audio issues to Apple, whether or not they have paid out of pocket for audio repairs. The agreement is restricted to residents of the United States.
To obtain compensation, users must file a claim. Users who paid out of pocket for repairs could receive a payment of at least $50 and up to $349. Members of the class action who did not pay Apple for repairs but complained about the problem will receive an equal payment of up to $125.

No proof or repair receipt is required to file a claim, but Apple's repair records will be used to validate claims.
The deadline to file a claim is June 3 2024 through the settlement website. People can choose whether they want to receive their payments as digital checks, direct deposit, or physical checks when completing their claim forms.
