Bank of America has already closed all of its U.S. branches several times in 2026, with additional scheduled closures still to come before the end of the year.
Bank of America plans new mass closures across the United States: when it will close all its branches
Like most major U.S. banks, Bank of America follows the Federal Reserve’s holiday schedule. Because the Federal Reserve observes all 11 federal holidays each year, from New Year’s Day through Christmas Day, bank branches also close and in-person banking services are unavailable on those dates.
When will Bank of America close in 2026? confirmed dates
So far in 2026, Bank of America has closed branches in observance of:
- New Year’s Day: January 1
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day: January 19
- Presidents Day: February 16
- Memorial Day: May 25
- Juneteenth National Independence Day: June 19
Most recently, the bank closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. Although Independence Day is celebrated on July 4, the holiday was observed on the preceding Friday in 2026 because July 4 fell on a Saturday.
Bank of America will also close all of its branches on the following dates in 2026:
- Labor Day: September 7
- Columbus Day: October 12
- Veterans Day: November 11
- Thanksgiving Day: November 26
- Christmas Day: December 25
Bank of America branches will be closed, but online banking will remain available
Although Bank of America will close all of its branches on five more occasions this year, customers will still be able to complete transactions through online banking and ATMs.
Most everyday banking tasks can be completed using these services. However, customers should keep in mind payments scheduled on federal holidays may not begin processing until the bank resumes normal operations on the next business day.
