All Bank of America locations nationwide will be closed on May 25, meaning customers should plan ahead for in-person banking needs, payments, and transactions. Services are expected to resume the following day, May 26.

According to the bank’s holiday schedule, the closure is due to the observance of Memorial Day, which is celebrated every year on the last Monday in May.

In addition to Bank of America, several other major banks in the U.S. will also be closed on May 25, including: Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Chase, Citibank, U.S. Bank, SunTrust Bank, Capital One, Citizens Bank, Santander Bank, BBVA, and Compass.

Most banks across the country are closing, but we recommend checking with your nearest branch in advance.

Why do banks close on holidays?

Banks throughout the United States, including Bank of America, close during the 11 official federal holidays each year. Financial institutions rely on services provided by the Federal Reserve, and because the Federal Reserve shuts down during federal holidays, banks are generally unable to process certain services and transactions.

Can online banking and ATM transactions be made on May 25th?

While most large and small banks will be closed for Memorial Day, online banking services and ATM transactions will remain available.

Customers will still be able to complete most everyday banking tasks. However, it is important to keep in mind that if payments are scheduled on a federal holiday, processing may not begin until the bank reopens on the next business day.
