The doctor's disappearance was reported by his wife, Clara Bailey, after he went for a walk on an island in Greece last Wednesday and did not return.

The uncertainty that settled in the middle of the week in the United Kingdom has come to a painful end: the lifeless body of Michael Mosley, a well-known doctor and BBC host who disappeared last Wednesday on the island Greek town of Symi, on the eastern side of the Aegean Sea, has been found, according to the town’s deputy mayor.

This concludes a search of several days that started when Mosley, on vacation in Greece, went for a walk without the company of his wife, Clara Bailey. She notified the authorities of the disappearance when her husband did not appear as the hours passed. The initial theory to explain what happened to him was that he had fallen from a cliff into the sea.

Searching for Michael Mosley

Police reported on Friday that the coast guard and firefighters, as well as the police force itself, had deployed a search to find the whereabouts of Mosley. Greek authorities remained in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom to communicate any progress in the operation, for which a helicopter, several drones and a bloodhound dog were mobilized.

As the hours passed, hopes of finding Mosley alive diminished. The search focused on the area located between Agios Nikolaos, which is where Mosley began his supposed walk, and the main town on the island. To rule out all theories, it was determined that the journalist had not left the island. Finally, the natural course of the investigation led the authorities to search in a cave in the Agia Marina area, where they found his body.

Mosley enjoyed great fame in the United Kingdom and his appearances were spread across all media. In addition to television and radio, he was also a regular columnist in the Daily Mail. His knowledge in nutrition, as well as his risky experiments in this field, eventually led to him to write the book called “The Fast Diet.”
