Election officials were attacked by the Presidnet

Arizona Speaker of the House, Rusty Bowers, spoke to the impact becoming a target of the President’s election lies had on his life and family.

After Trump began to turn on against Speaker Bowers for not going along with his plans to use the Arizona state legislature to overturn the results of the election, Bowers and his family began to be harassed.

“Up till even recently. It is a new pattern to worry about what will happen on Saturdays because we have various groups come by and they have had -um- video panel trucks with video of me, proclaiming me to be a pedophile and a pervert and a corrupt politician,” said the Speaker when he testified publicly in June.

Donald Trump attacked average Americans

One of the most emotional testimonies was given by Shaye Moss, an election worker in Georgia, who has been targeted and harassed by Donald Trump and his supports. Her mother, Lady Ruby, was unable to escape Donald Trump’s wrath, as he spread conspiracy theories about her and her daughter in the wake of his loss of the 2020 election. Ms. Moss and all of her co-workers had to quit their jobs at the Department of Fulton County, Georgia because of the harassment they endured. Ms. Moss worked for Department of Elections and Registrations between 2017 to 2022. In her role she was responsible for handling voter applications and absentee ballot requests.

These responsibilities made her a target of President Trump as he peddled dangerous claims of fraud that more than 400,000 illegal votes had been counted Georgia. What shocked many was that not only Ms. Moss, but her mother, Ms. Ruby Freeman, “became the target of nasty lies spread by President Trump and his allies.” When Lady Ruby was passing her daughter a piece of gum, Trump accused the two of trading a flash drive capable of corrupting voting machines.

“There is nowhere I feel safe. Do you know how it feels to have the President of the United States target you? The President of the United States is supposed to represent every American, not target one. But he targeted me,” said Lady Ruby during her testimony before the committee.

The testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson, which has since inspired others to come forward

Cassidy Hutchinson’s, 25, testimony was an important turning point in the hearings. Her bravery to confront and take on the Republican establishment has inspired others to come forward and tell their story and cooperate with the committee. In part, this is the reason that the committee will continue with their investigation; they need more time to speak with more witnesses.

The shocking events in Hutchinson’s testimony

During her shocking testimony, Ms. Hutchinson was asked how the president responded when Secret Service told him they would not be taking him to the capitol. These events took place after Donald Trump’s indnecidary speech the elispe, after which, he sent a violent mobb down to the Captiol in an attept to distrupt the electoral count. Trump had told his supporters that he would come with them to the Capitol, but the Secret Service prevented this from happening.

“The President said something to the effect of ‘I am the effing presidet, take me up to the Capitol,’ now!”

Trump was so upset by this news that he allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of the moving vehicle and and attacked some of the members of his protective detail.

Who came forward after Cassidy Hutchinson testified?

After her testimony, future witness Sarah Matthews tweeted her support for Hutchinson, who she had spent plenty of time with in the West Wing. Matthews is one of the many who reached out to the committee to testify after seeing the Hutchinson hearing.

The final straw for some in the White House

The testimony of Matthew Pottinger and Sarah Matthews will not be soon forgotten.

The two former Trump Administration official, stood by the President through one scandal and crisis after another, but the events of January 6th proved to be too much. Both reassigned after the behavior they saw from the president on the fateful day and new they had to quit because there was no way to defend the president’s actions and attitude.

For both Pottinger and Matthews, one of the biggest issues they took with the president was the way in which he disregarded he saftey of law enforccement, Congressional leaders and staff, and his own Vice President Mike Pence.
