Bradley Cooper’s hot New York restaurant where you can only eat the signature dish gets new landlord after $10.7M payout
The East Village eatery has no chairs and has just one item on the menu. The five-story building has been snapped up by a real estate company.
It only opened in January and there is only one offering on the menu but customers hankering for an authentic taste of Philadelphia in New York’s East Village will probably have to queue at this establishment, co-owned by a 12-time Oscar nominee.
It all started a couple of years back. Bradley Cooper joined forced with Danny DiGiampietro, the owner of Philly’s famed pizza joint Angelo’s, selling cheesesteak sandwiches out of the back of a truck.
“It’s all down to Danny DiGiampietro, “Cooper explains. “I went to Angelo’s years ago and I was like, ‘This is the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had'. I live in New York but we did this thing. He’s such a nice guy. I said, ‘Hey, can I come and get your ingredients and just cook for my friends out here at weekend?’ I did that for two years. Then I said, ‘Y’know, there’s no good steak sandwich shop in New York, would you ever want to get a food truck and see if it’s gonna work? Let’s just park at the side of a road'.
“We did that and it well. We did it again and we were like, ‘Let’s look for a place and open up just a cheesesteak place. Just do a couple of things to make it a little bit more just for us and what we like‘. It’s been unbelievable. I take my daughter to school, I walk over, I go on the grill for four hours, I pick her up and it’s like heaven”.
Did you know Bradley Cooper's mother Gloria Cooper, a fellow member of @QVC's Q50, owns a food truck business called Danny & Coop's Cheesesteaks?

Danny & Coop’s cheesesteaks proved so popular that last year, the pair found a permanent place to sell their version of an iconic comfort food which has been a staple for millions of Philadelphians for over 70 years.
Danny & Coop’s opened at 151 Avenue A in in New York’s East Village at the start of the New Year and anyone wanting to try their $17.45 foot-long Philly cheesesteak with sweet or hot peppers, washed down with soda or water, will have to queue for it.
There is usually a long line of customers waiting outside the doors of Danny & Coop’s way before it opens for business at 12 noon.

What is a Philly cheesesteak?
Created by Pat and Harry Olivieri, hot dog stand workers in South Philadelphia in the 1930s, the Philly cheesesteak is the ultimate comfort food. It consists of thinly sliced rib-eye or top round beef strips seasoned with spices (paprika, chili, garlic, thyme, marjoram, basil) topped with melted cheese (Cheez Whiz or Italian provolone), caramelized onion with red and green bell pepper, wrapped up in in a long, seeded hoagie roll.
Danny & Coop’s new landlords
Business is booming but Cooper and DiGiampietro have a slight problem - one that they could never have envisaged when they opened a couple of months ago. The five-story apartment building which Danny & Coop’s occupies at 151 Avenue A has been snapped up by real estate company Alchemy Ventures for $10.75 million.
According to the New York Post, Alchemy Ventures owns more than $400 million worth of properties in New York and Kansas City.
The good news for Cooper and DiGiampietro is that while they may have a new landlord, it’s unlikely that they will be evicted any time soon. Danny & Coop’s signed a five-year commercial lease for the premises with the option of a five-year extension. Whether their monthly rent will be raised is another question that remains unanswered, for now - but any extra overheads might force them to up the price of their famous cheesesteaks.
