*This is a developing story

Evacuation orders have been issued for residents near the Hollywood Hills and Runyon Canyon Road. For more information, the name given to the blaze is the Sunset Fire. So far, the fire has claimed at least nineteen acres and is only around 100 feet from homes in the area.

IMMEDIATE EVACUATION ORDER ISSUED NEAR HOLLYWOOD HILLS

Those in this area should leave as soon as possible as the fire is spreading rapidly, and traffic could become a problem if many choose to drive out of the danger zone.

AREA UNDER EVACUATION ORDER

Laurel Canyon Blvd (on the west) to Mulholland Dr (on the north) to 101 Freeway (on the east) down to Hollywood Blvd (on the south).

Be sure to keep connected with official communication channels and head warnings when they are issued.

Avoid evacuation routes if not necessary

It is critical that those in the most danger are able to evacuate, so if you are in the area, particularly on Hollywood Boulevard or Franklin Boulevard, for other purposes, try to head to a less frequented area to avoid further gridlock.

The wildfire started in the last four hours and rapidly advanced toward the city, resulting in urgent evacuation measures. It’s important to note that this fire is separate from the Palisades fire, which has burned over 15,000 acres since it began on Tuesday.

The threat continues through Friday

The Santa Ana winds are currently gusting around 20 miles per hour. While this speed might not appear significant, it is sufficient to spread a fire rapidly. These winds have been forecasted to continue through Friday, meaning the threat of other fires breaking out is high, and residents should be prepared to evacuate.
