California severe weather alerts
The storm system is also expected to bring snow to unusual locations such as Santa Clarita, La Verne, Temecula, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga.
A flood watch will be in effect Friday morning through Saturday afternoon for Los Angeles County beaches, the coastal region including downtown, the Los Angeles County Mountains, the Santa Monica Mountains, and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and San Gabriel Valleys.
A flood watch will also be in effect for Orange County, covering inland areas as well as the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills.
I-5 closed through Tejon Pass due to icy roads

Strong wind gusts between 55 and 75 mph
Meteorologists reported that strong winds will affect the entire region during Friday, with greater strength in the mountains and deserts. Gusts of 55 to 75 mph are anticipated in those areas.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning in the Los Angeles area, the first one since 1989.
The Natianal Weather Service is predicting possibly 2 or more inches per hour with strong southerly winds.

The National Weather Service is advising of “numerous weather hazards are expected Friday and Saturday across the Golden State, especially southern California from a cold and vigorous winter storm.” Californians can expect heavy rainfall resulting in likely flooding likely from Los Angeles to San Diego.
In the mountain, desert, and foothill roadways in southern California there is the potential for dangerous and possibly life-threatening snow. Some major highways and roadways have already been closed.
