Mandarin Oriental opened its first new-built hotel in a decade in June last year. Located along historic Hanover Square in London’s Mayfair district, the property, one of the luxury hotel chain’s smallest, has only 50 rooms and suites as well as 77 adjacent residences.

Among the jewels of this unparalleled luxury hotel is the four-bedroom, 5,005-square-foot penthouse on the 11th floor. Additionally, it has a wraparound terrace that offers stunning, 180-degree views of the City’s skyline.

But if you want to spend the night you best have deep pockets as it will cost you around $55,000 a night. Here’s a look at what you get.

The height of luxury in London’s Mayfair district

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is “at the crossroads of art, fashion and culture,” says the hotel. Like the other rooms in the hotel the penthouse’s opulent interiors have hand-painted de Gournay silk wallpaper and gilded finishes by British artisans which “showcase timeless craftsmanship with sophistication.”

The luminous interior is illuminated from all sides by floor to ceiling windows. Each of the four bedrooms comes with its own bathroom.

The penthouse has a spacious living room and a formal dinning room that can seat eight. As well the kitchen has an informal dining area for four. All these spaces look out on the wraparound terrace which has a second level with sunloungers.

A perfect space to retreat to and kick back to relax.

Other features of the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair are the restaurant with South Korea-born, Colorado-raised celebrity chef Akira Back and the adjacent ABar Lounge. There is also the Art Deco ABar Rooftop on the top floor.

Guests can also take advantage of the uniquely-lit 82-foot pool, the sauna and vitality pools. There is a gym with advanced fitness facilities and personal trainers on hand.
