Cold front hits Florida this week: affected areas and temperatures
The system will bring only minor changes in temperature while worsening drought conditions and increasing wildfire risk.

A cold front is expected to reach Florida this Sunday, but meteorologists anticipate minimal or no impact. The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting only a 20–30% chance of rain, meaning the ongoing drought will likely deepen and the risk of wildfires will continue to rise.
According to the NWS, a cold front is a boundary that separates two air masses, with the colder, denser air pushing out the warmer one. However, this time temperatures won’t drop significantly, and with the low chances of rain, drought conditions are expected to persist across the tri-state area.
“The drought continues to worsen in the region, with little beneficial rainfall on the horizon. The persistence of dry conditions and declining humidity next week will raise increasing concerns about wildfires,” the NWS office in Tallahassee warned.
10/16: Severe to extreme drought continues to expand across the tri-state area thanks to warm days, low humidity, and little rain. Unfortunately, chances for 0.25" of rain with Sunday's cold front are low with dry weather expected beyond Sunday.#ALwx #FLwx #GAwx pic.twitter.com/8Up9mzfNQ2

Florida’s weekend weather forecast
Meteorologists say humidity will rise from Saturday night into Sunday as the front approaches. “The main trough will remain well to the north over the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley, limiting the potential for rain and storms. Any band of showers or thunderstorms along or just ahead of the front is expected to weaken as it moves into the state,” the agency reported.
Rain chances are slightly higher in the Panhandle counties, around 30–40%, and taper off toward the east. “One or two isolated thunderstorms are possible, though instability remains quite limited,” the NWS added.
After the weekend, drier air will move in behind the front on Monday. Another, weaker front is expected to cross the state on Tuesday with even lower humidity. “A fresh surge of cooler, drier air will arrive by the end of the week,” forecasters said.
Highs are expected to stay between 80°F and 85°F through Tuesday, with lows ranging from 50°F to 60°F. After the front passes, highs should drop into the 70s on Wednesday, and nighttime temperatures will fall to the 40s and 50s.
