David Céspedes, longevity expert: “If your parents are 50 or 60 years old and don’t do sports, they won’t be independent at 70”
The content creator has shared a video on TikTok in which he explains the optimal routine to extend our lifespan and be more functional.
As we get older, our priorities inevitably evolve. What went unnoticed in youth takes on decisive weight and importance in adulthood. A clear example is health, the proper or improper care of which can directly influence our quality of life and longevity in the long term.
In this context, David Céspedes, a longevity expert and content creator, has shared a short video on TikTok in which he explains all the details about the most optimal routine for people whose age ranges between 50 and 60 years, and who want to remain independent when old age comes knocking.
“If your parents are between 50 and 60 years old, and they don’t do any sport, they won’t be independent when they’re 70. (...) This is the routine I would send my parents if I wanted them to start training at home with some dumbbells or bottles,” the health professional begins.
To begin, David recommends performing a squat pattern, adding a variation for beginners: “I would start with squats; if that’s difficult, another option would be to sit on the sofa and stand up.” After that, the expert suggests doing a deadlift and some push-ups: “You can do them on your knees, on a table, or against a wall,” he adds.
“Two or three times a week”
Continuing with the workout routine, the content creator talks about the next exercise: “You’ll sit in a chair, pick up a weight, and lift it upwards, keeping your elbows close to your body, rather than letting them flare out too much.” To finish, David Céspedes focuses on working the abdominal area, for which he recommends doing planks on the floor.
“Having your parents do these two or three times a week can change their lives,” is the message with which the longevity professional concludes the video, making it clear that, with small gestures carried out routinely, we have the ability to make our lives much more bearable and functional, even in old age.
