Destined to meet Mr. Right: Woman makes discovery that backs up ‘invisible string theory’
A woman has taken to TikTok to share a romantic story which, she says, proves the ‘invisible string theory’ is “so real”.

In a viral post, a TikToker has revealed she recently spotted her fiancé in the background of a video she filmed before they met - a coincidence that backs up the ‘invisible string theory’, the woman says.
What is ‘invisible string theory’?
The ‘invisible string theory’ revolves around the idea that you are connected to your soulmate by an invisible thread and that, no matter what happens, you will eventually find your way to each other.
“Random guy will end up being her fiancé”
South Carolina woman Audrey Roberts now declares the theory to be “so real”, having made the discovery while clearing space on her phone for newly-taken engagement photos with her husband-to-be, Ethan Somoza.
In a TikTok post that has amassed millions of views, Roberts shared the clip in question, with the caption: “She doesn’t know it yet but the random guy that looks at her in the background of this video will end up being her fiancé and she will quit her job and move across the world with him."
She continued: “The invisible string theory is so real because I had no idea who the guy in the background (black suit dark hair) of the video was when I took this and we didn’t meet until months later (I was the one filming the video of my friend and her bf now fiancé)”.

“This was the invisible string theory”
In an interview with People magazine this month, Roberts explained that the video was recorded in January 2023, three months before she was introduced to Somoza.
She says the film was taken while she was living in Greenville, S.C., where she was attending a hockey game involving the boyfriend of her friend Abby. Somoza was also playing there that day.
The two went on to meet at a gathering with friends, before Somoza asked her out. After several months of dating, Roberts left her job as a nurse and, in August 2024, moved to Budapest, Hungary, to support Somoza’s hockey career. The pair got engaged in the Hungarian capital in March.
“Even though there was reason Ethan was in the background of the video due to him being on the same team as Abby’s boyfriend, I do think this was the invisible string theory because I feel like there was a reason we met when we did,” Roberts told People.
“When the video was filmed, neither of us were looking for relationships or in the right place for one, then meeting several months later at what felt like the perfect time, I just [think] there was no other way to explain it,” she added.
“I’m so thankful for all the little things that added up in order for us to meet and get to this point.”
