Donald Trump, defendant in case of classified documents: What charges is he facing?
They’ve unsealed the indictment outlining federal charges against former President Donald Trump for alleged mishandling of classified documents.
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted for the second time this year, this time in connection with the investigation against him involving classified documents found in Mar-a-Lago.
On Thursday night, the former president published on Truth Social that his lawyers had informed him of the accusations against him. In another post, Trump announced that he had been subpoenaed to appear in Miami Federal Court on Tuesday, June 13 at 3 p.m.
On Friday, the indictment outlining the federal charges facing the former president for alleged mishandling of classified documents was unsealed.

According to the indictment, the FBI seized 102 classified documents found in Trump’s office and storage room. In his office, 27 documents were found, of which 6 were marked as top secret, 18 as secret and 3 as confidential. In the storage room, they found 75 documents: 11 marked as top secret, 36 as secret and 28 as confidential.
Among the federal charges facing the former president are: 31 counts of deliberate withholding of national defense information and single counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding of a document or record, corrupt concealment of a document or record, concealment of a document in a federal investigation, planning to cover up, as well as false statements and representations.

Donald Trump insists on his innocence
Through Truth Social and after sharing that his lawyers had informed him of the indictment against him, Trump shared a message in which he proclaimed his innocence.
“I never thought it possible that something like this could happen to a former president of the United States, who received many more votes than any sitting president in the history of our country, and currently leads by far all candidates, both Democratic and Republican, in polls for the 2024 Presidential Election. I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!”, he posted.
Meanwhile, it was reported on Friday that two of Trump’s lawyers had resigned. The former president told Truth Social that he will be represented by attorney Todd Blanche.
“In order to fight the greatest witch hunt of all time, which will now move to Florida courts, I will be represented by Todd Blanche, Esq., and a firm to be named later. I want to thank Jim Trusty and John Rowley for their work, but they were faced with a very dishonest, corrupt, evil and “sick” group of people, the likes of which have never been seen before. We will be announcing additional attorneys in the coming days”, he shared.
