2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump is facing his fourth set of criminal charges in as many months. The investigation into the handling of the 2020 election has resulted in new charges, this time at the state level from Georgia.

Trump has been charged with 13 new counts, including Violation of the Georgia RICO Act. This charge alone could net him 20 years in prison.

“The indictment alleges that rather than abide by Georgia’s legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn Georgia’s presidential election result,” said Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

On Truth Social Trump said a “A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey.”

What is happening with Trump’s other indictments?

House select committee investigating the events of 6 January recommended four criminal charges for Donald Trump last month. These were conspiracy to defraud the US, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against the rights of citizens in an effort to overturn the 2020 election result.

If convicted, Trump could face up to 35 years in prison and more than $500,000 in fines.

A second federal investigation is linked to the FBI search of Trump’s Florida residence Mar-a-Lago last year. He pleaded not guilty to 37 counts and faces 100 years in prison. It was the first-ever federal indictment of a former president.

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts in a third criminal case. All counts relate to falsification of business records and are linked to the dealings between Trump and former pornstar Stormy Daniels.

The first court date is set for 4 December.
