Update:

The distribution schedule for Social Security checks is set to shift slightly, and the reason behind this adjustment is directly tied to an upcoming federal holiday.

Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, falls on Wednesday, 19 June, this year. As a result, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that it will distribute payments a day earlier than usual for those with birthdays falling between the 11th and 20th of the month.

Typically, Social Security beneficiaries with birth dates in this range receive their payments on the second Wednesday of each month. However, due to the Juneteenth holiday, the SSA has decided to release these payments on Tuesday, 18 June, instead.

The decision to shift the payment schedule is aimed at ensuring that Social Security recipients receive their funds without any unnecessary delays. By distributing the checks a day earlier, the SSA can circumvent any potential disruptions caused by the federal holiday and its impact on banking operations.

It’s important to note that this change only affects those with birth dates between the 11th and 20th of the month. For beneficiaries with birth dates falling outside of this range, the payment schedule remains unchanged.
