According to a press statement from the OFD, the fire began at a vacant building at the end of the pier that used to house a Ruby’s Diner that closed down three years ago due to losses suffered during the pandemic.
There have been no reports of injuries so far. The fire department has asked residents to stay away from the immediate vicinity of the fire. As of early afternoon, the OFD was still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
