Free turkey for Thanksgiving! Find out where you can grab a bargain for November 28

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal without the financial strain, in theory but not practice.

As Thanksgiving approaches, the excitement of gathering with family and friends is accompanied by the anticipation of a delicious turkey feast.

Several grocery chains are offering free turkeys with qualifying purchases, though the values of said purchases are so high you may as well just buy a turkey outright. The average price this year is around $30, meaning you need to spend at least ten times more at these places to qualify for a free one.

Grocery store promotions

Acme Market: Spend at least $300 between October 18 and November 28 to receive a free Signature Farms frozen turkey (10-22 pounds). Don’t forget to activate your coupon before shopping!

Foodtown: Spend $400 on your Foodtown Club Card from November 11 to November 28 for a free store-brand turkey.

Giant: Earn 400 rewards points by shopping between October 1 and November 28 to redeem a free Shady Brook Farms turkey (up to 20 pounds).

Weis Markets: Accumulate 400 points by Nov. 28 and receive a free holiday item, such as a turkey, turkey breast, bone-in ham or Tofurky’s vegan ham or turkey roast

WinCo Foods: Starting November 25, shoppers can receive a free Honeysuckle White or Jennie-O turkey with a purchase of at least $125.
