From farms to restaurants: these are the new epicenters of ICE’s immigration raids
The Trump administration reverses its order to pause farm and restaurant raids: "We're going to search everywhere."

Less than a week after the Trump administration ordered a halt to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeting the hospitality, restaurant, and agricultural industries, the government has reversed course. In a post on Truth Social, the president shared that many businesspeople had called to express concern about their employees, who had worked with them for decades, being arrested and deported by ICE. The president stated he would be making changes to the approach to avoid these types of detentions, which he claimed were hurting farmers and businesses in the hospitality sector.

However, when asked about a possible pause or change in strategy on Tuesday, President Trump told the press that he believed the biggest problems were in the neighborhoods, suggesting that efforts might instead be redirected to these areas.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced the rollback of last week’s pause, according to an internal memo obtained by The Washington Post. Additionally, White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed the memo’s contents on Thursday, June 19, tell reporters that ICE would “continue to do worksite enforcement operations, even on farms and hotels, but based on a prioritized basis.”
Trump Pressures ICE to Ramp Up Deportations
In addition to reversing his own directive, the president has been pressuring ICE agents to increase the number of daily arrests, aiming to reach one million deportations per year—a goal previously outlined by former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Currently, agents have been ordered to raise daily arrests from 600 to 3,000.
Trump has also threatened to intensify ICE operations in some of the country’s largest cities, particularly those governed by Democrats and widely known as “sanctuary cities.”“ICE officers are being instructed to do everything possible to carry out the largest mass deportation program in history. To do that, we must step up efforts in America’s biggest cities—Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York—where millions of them live,” the former president wrote on Truth Social.
