Good news for Dairy Queen fans, this is the acclaimed flavor that the company is bringing back to its stores
DQ is opening the freezer again in 2025, giving fans a shot at bringing one of the legendary Blizzard Treat flavors back. Here’s how you can “lend a spoon.”
The Dairy Queen has released hundreds of flavors since creating the Blizzard Treat nearly 40 years ago. When the fast food chain removes a flavor from the menu it is locked away in the DQ Freezer for safekeeping.
However, occasionally the company, that first opened in Joliet, Illinois in 1940, opens up that vault of deliciousness to rerelease a flavor. DQ recently announced that it would be doing so in 2025 and is asking fans to “lend a spoon” and help choose which of three legendary Blizzard Treat flavors should return for a limited time.

DQ fans have until December 19 to have their say in picking Cappuccino HEATH, Georgia Mud Fudge or S’mores as the Blizzard Treat flavor that will return to stores across the nation.
In order to participate in deciding which one will return, you must use the Dairy Queen app that you can download on the company’s rewards page.
Once the fan favorite is released, the Minnesota-based company advises not to waste time getting to a store near you to enjoy it. “We can’t be certain exactly how long the DQ FREEZER doors are open. Flavors released from the DQ FREEZER are available for a limited time only, so get them while you can,” says Dairy Queen.
While you wait for Cappuccino HEATH, Georgia Mud Fudge or S’mores flavor Blizzard Treat to be available you can try the recently released Salted Caramel Truffle Blizzard Treat.
“With a beloved and craveable OMG flavor profile, we’ve deemed it the most un-shareable Blizzard Treat of all time,” says Dairy Queen of the new flavor. “Indulge in a blend of world-famous DQ soft serve, fudge-covered salted caramel truffles bursting with oh-so-smooth caramel, sweet and salty toffee pieces with rich choco chunks and decadent cocoa fudge.”
Also for the holiday season, the Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard Treat is back. Its a blend of peppermint candy cane pieces, choco chunks and cocoa fudge with whipped topping and peppermint candy cane pieces on top.
